New Partnership with University of Minnesota

Kadiwaku Foundation (KFF) is pleased to announce its partnership with the University of Minnesota (UM) – which is among the nation’s top public research universities offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in the United States of America.

The purpose of this collaboration is to serve as a potential implementing partner for the UM’s program aiming at working with government staff at the local and regional level and with health and services provider agency staff to increase and ensure they are aware of the rights and abilities of people living with disabilities in the city of Kisangani (Tshopo Province, DR Congo). The program will also increase their skills to provide supports that provide full inclusion. This will be accomplished through training, educational materials, technical assistance, and the creation of a Community of Practice. The second focus of this program will be to increase the advocacy skills of individuals living with disabilities. This will be accomplished through advocacy training and training to create radio and social media content aimed at raising awareness of the rights and abilities of people living with disabilities.

As an implementer partner, Kadiwaku Foundation (KFF) will assist with recruiting participants for 4-5 focus groups conducted for the purpose of a learning needs assessment and co-facilitate focus groups and assist with interpreting findings that will be used to develop content for in-person training curriculum, assist with ensuring that curricula developed by ICI staff are culturally relevant and applicable to the needs of people with disabilities and disability service organizations in the Kisangani region, assist with recruiting participants with disabilities and disability/human service organizations for training, assist with fielding the disability awareness survey, provide logistic support for in-person training that will be delivered in Kisangani, assist with the development of written learning materials, etc.
